It was a great honour and privilege to be part of the felicitation ceremony of Hon’ble General N. S. Raja Subramani, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Government of India, held at the prestigious Air Force Club, New Delhi. The occasion was a memorable gathering that brought together distinguished personalities and stakeholders committed to strengthening India’s sporting ecosystem.

The ceremony was particularly inspiring as it highlighted the growing recognition of inclusive sports and the achievements of para-athletes in India. It provided an opportunity to acknowledge the importance of creating equal platforms, resources and opportunities for specially-abled sportspersons to pursue their sporting aspirations and represent the country at national and international levels.

A key focus of the event was the development and promotion of Boccia, a sport that offers significant opportunities for athletes with physical disabilities. The growing encouragement for Boccia reflects the importance of expanding the reach of para sports and ensuring that talented athletes receive the support, visibility and opportunities they deserve.

The event also highlighted the dedication of organisations working consistently to develop para sports in India. In this regard, the efforts of the Boccia Sports Federation of India deserve special appreciation. The federation has been working towards creating greater awareness around Boccia, supporting athletes and contributing to the development of a more inclusive sporting environment.
